When several different organisms decide to work together, they give birth to a new complex synergy, to achieve the same goal.
This complex combines all the diversity and evolve them into a strength, going to create a new fully functioning organism.
This is the concept behind this exhibition.
Our goal was to bring together established artists and not, with completely different styles, to create a single great exhibition.

Phenomena gallery at Ægisgatu 7 is proud to present the exhibition AI \ NI by Árna Val Axfjörð and Anton Lyngdal based on the artists’ ideas on the development of artificial intelligence and its effect on human creativity.
Artificial intelligence is programmed, it learns and makes independent decisions. She learns quickly and delivers her product quickly. She creates new versions. She can calculate emotions from facial expressions. She serves us well. It is said that she will become human and gain self-awareness.
Artificial intelligence is programmed, it is based on the information that humans feed it. She always works based on the man’s words and actions. It follows a predetermined format. She doesn’t feel emotions, she doesn’t feel pain, she always lacks the spark, the soul. The AI is not original, it is limited.
The man has intelligence and ingenuity. He feels and has emotional intelligence. Man creates beautiful things without outside help, he creates at his own pace. Nothing can replace the soul and spark of the artist, the artist is not limited, the man is not limited.
Nature, which is the source of all life is necessary, artificial intelligence is not the source of life, it is based on what nature has already created.

The group exhibition Anarchist ~ Aesthetics works with art and design. Artists and designers exhibit at Galley Phenomenon, a multi-complex of creative individuals on Ægisgata 7 in the center of Reykjavik. The exhibition aims to push the boundaries between art and design. We see art as a definition or redefinition of human needs, art is social criticism and something you experience.

Beginnings/Inscape/Outscape
Chroma (Hulda Hlín) exhibits her work titled Beginninsg/Inscape/Outscape with reference to the beginning of a new year and the waves of life inside and outside.
In the exhibition among others new work will be on show that has developed since the beginning of the artists career, still retaining its distinctive, characteristic: strong colors, contrast and flow.
The work depicts the free flow, the joyful creation and the power of the inner and outer world. Flowing forms now cascading over the canvas in conversation with water and gravity are featured in the exhibition.
The work is expressive and the shapes are sometimes reminiscent of organisms and cells and the circular shapes are often present. At the beginning of the artist's career, the focus was on external worlds such as landscapes and sometimes portraits, painted in expressive style with strong colors, but the landscapes gradually disintegrated into semi abstract and abstract flowing shapes. The portrait still stays around showing up in various ways. Now is a new beginning and the future will reveal where creation is headed. The artist allows the art continuously to flow in creative joy.

CAMPO VERITÀ (Aftermath talk) Date: 15 August (Tue.) Time: 17-19:00 PHENOMENON ART GALLERY Ægisgata 7 101 | Reykjavík ARTISTS Amanda Riffo Joseph Marzolla Michaela Lakova Karolina Daria Flora Voin de Voin Mao Alheimsdottir Thorbjorg Jonsdottir
In the camp spirit of the international art residency “INSULA CAMPO VERITÀ” conducted in Verksmiðjan á Hjalteyri
at the beginning of August, artists will share their experience and creative outcomes with the audience.
While inhabiting a former fish factory in the North of Iceland for a week — living, fishing, cooking, hiking, collecting herbs,
swimming with the whales we practice collectiveness; asking ourselves how we can work together?
Series of works emerged such as sculptures made from scratch using found raw materials, visual poems,
videos, filmed at the surroundings, performances and spatial interventions.
Through different collaborations, the artists Joseph Marzolla (Co-curator), Thorbjorg Jónsdóttir (Co-curator) Amanda Riffo, Michaela Lakova, Karolina Daria Flora, Voin de Voin and
Mao Alheimsdottir will open up a discussion, exchange perspectives, and inspire positive change within the art community and beyond.

Insula Campo Verità, The exhibition is on view until September 3th at Verksmiðjan á Hjalteyri
Iceland’s art history, much like its ever-changing geological terrain, has been slowly gaining prominence on the international art stage. It is pivotal that these artists immerse themselves in this fertile scene, as they question the prevailing systems that shape the art world. They have already established strong connections with local artists, writers, independent curators, artist-run spaces, and museums in Iceland. By producing artworks with pre-existing materials, they are striving for a zero-production economical design as an opposite to the “corrupted” and ever demanding corporate Art World.
This radical production model is best exemplified by the work of the artist and the co-curator of the show Joseph Marzolla, whose “Walk in Progres”s series has seen the artist traverse upwards of 16,000 km since the year 2013. Marzolla’s long-distance walk remain exclusively intangible, and never embrace marketable strategies. His statement for this show was to walk from Amsterdam towards Iceland during 2 months and a half.
Together, the group recognizes that power that lies in collective actions. By joining forces and nurturing a spirit of collaboration, they could foster a meaningful change in our world where every individual has the capacity to contribute in their own unique way—Þorbjörg Jónsdóttir via her curatorial and artistic prowess. Gústav Geir Bollason as gallery director and co-curator of this project. Artist Voin De Voin whose work “look’s to find evidence for our post-apocalyptic existence in the object’s loss of essence”. Mao Alheimsdottir, an Icelandic writer explores in her work the connection between nature and human emotions. Artist and curator Emilie Pischedda whose previous group shows have sought to “establish a certain meaning through the representation that each artist makes of the world”. Michaela Lakova adds her resume of experimental anthropological video artworks that investigate the theme of memory and erasure. Amanda Riffo brings her conceptual practice that explores such themes as cognitive science, and work ethics within the arts. Bryndís Björnsdóttir contributes by bringing her artistic practice of decolonizing corrupt ecologies. And lastly Polish artist Karolina Daria Flora adds her lucious, abstract naturalism.
It is through their shared dedication, empathy, and receptiveness that these artists can create a space in which transformative ideas can thrive. Let us all walk this path with them; embracing humanity and exploring new perspectives while challenging the status quo.

Katrín Inga lauk MFA námi við School of Visual Arts í New York (2014); hún skartar BA gráðu í listfræði, með ritlist sem aukafag frá Háskóla Íslands (2012); og BA í myndlist frá Listaháskóla Íslands (2008). Katrín Inga á að baki sýningar hérlendis og erlendis, má þar helst nefna einkasýningar hennar 6. bindið í Nýlistasafninu (2013-); Land Self Love í Gallery Gudmundsdottir í Berlín (2020), og samsýningar þar á meðal High Line Art, New York, Bandaríkjunum (2017); Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Vaduz, Liechtenstein, (2015); XVII tvíæringur ungra listamanna, MEDITERRANEA 17, Mílanó, Ítalíu (2015).
Katrín Inga creates through all the media of modern society. Systemic phenomena often play the main role in her visual philosophy. A change in the mindset of the values of love and sexuality rises, presented on a new basis where critical thinking belongs to everyday life. The purpose of art and love is in eliminating the endless cycle of political and cultural conflicts in the world.

27.04.23 kl.18 til 22
Á fimmtudaginn langa gefst áhugasömum kostur á að virða fyrir sér sýningu Brynjars Helgasonar í Fyrirbæri sem gengur undir heitinu; ‘Fyrirbærafræði’… Og um leið, ef spurningar vakna, að spyrja listamanninn um hvert það hugðarefni sem viðkomandi kemur í orð eða í hvern þann tjáningarmáta sem er á færi þess sama. Þá þarf ekki að hika við að fara langt út fyrir efnið svo lengi sem að það er á vinsamlegu nótunum.
