The mural Peace of Art (2025) by Katrín Inga, artist and founder of Phenomenon, plays with language while reflecting on the importance of having a safe space to create. Inspired by the experience of working in the studio, the piece highlights how Phenomenon art studios serve not only artists but also the wider community. Art generates peace within us, and this energy extends outward, resonating through society and strengthening our bonds. The work was made possible with the generous support of #sérefni.

Að trufla er að veita viðnám – valda truflun á því sem er venjubundið og viðbúið. Þessi sýning sameinar sex listamenn sem skoða möguleika truflunar sem feminíska aðgerð til að raska og valda umbreytingu. Með málverki, teikningum, gjörningum og myndbandsverkum ögra þær hefðum, formum og erkitýpum, fara út fyrir fastmótaðar skilgreiningar.
Hvert verk opnar sprungu – augnabliks pásu, slátt verðandinnar. Saman dvelja verkin í einskonar rofi þar sem líkami, ímynd og merking færist til, sameinast og umbreytist. Truflun fagnar villu sem möguleika og fagnar umbreytingu sem samfelldu frelsisástandi.

Gallery Phenomenon warmly invites you to the opening of the group exhibition Glitch, taking place on October 10th at 6:00 PM at Gallery Phenomenon, Ægisgata 7, 101 Reykjavík. Free admission & everyone is welcome.
To glitch is to resist — to interrupt what is expected. This exhibition brings together six artists who explore the glitch as a feminist gesture of misfit and transformation. Through painting, drawing, performance, and video, they challenge conventions of form and identity, moving beyond fixed definitions.
Each work opens a fracture — a moment of pause, a pulse of becoming. Together, they inhabit the in-between: spaces where the body, image, and meaning shift, overlap, and reconfigure. Glitch celebrates disruption as possibility, and transformation as a continuous state of freedom

Gallery Phenomenon takes over Satellite Art Show in New York City. Both spaces are artist-run and emphasize strengthening their communities and creating a platform for creative activity. This exhibition brings together artists based in each location to exhibit side by side and form connections — beginning in New York City this October and followed by a Satellite Art Show takeover at Gallery Phenomenon in Reykjavík in 2026.
